Hey My Loves!
Yeah I know it has been awhile...let's just say that I was in my "feelings". So, I had to work on it and everything that it included. However this is NOT what I wanted to discuss today...
This Morning BJ 4 Juicy Thoughts is to discuss resilience. Resilience is the ability to bounce back from challenges or setbacks and thriving difficult situations. I feel, that if you have never learned about this and have children then you should teach what you learn and share to create a balanced home environment. Let's first discuss ourselves and then how we can encourage it in our children by getting some insights on actionable steps and daily practices to test out in our home routines.
The catch is NOT to AVOID challenging situations but rather to embrace the challenge to learn and grow from the experience. Let me tell you a few of my recent "beautiful challenges" and how I overcame them and worked through them.
Recently, I have been pondering over new ways to recover from financial & marital setbacks both within my mind metaphysically and physically. So, I practiced checking my emotions while they were still within my head to avoid making the situation any more difficult than it was already perceived to be.
I also, got consistent with working on myself everyday and also playing with my schedule on and off. I have found peace in the flexibility of what I am capable of doing in shorter amounts of time.
So what other ways can you incorporate a bit mo' resilience into our life each day?
- Daily Reflection - I started just thinking about it but then found that when I wanted to review it I couldn't really recall everything so now I write in out in one of my note taking apps.
- Practice Gratitude - I now go directly to the positive benefits of an experience rather than the negative. It is WAY more peaceful.
- Finding A Support System - Currently growing a network on social media via Facebook/Instagram/Twitter @SistahUmoja (Sometimes it takes a Soul Tribe to get you.)
- Mindfulness & Meditation - Every morning I meditate, pray and plan for the day. (The first few weeks were testing but I got through them.)
- Exercise and Physical Activity - I workout everyday...yes everyday. It really helps boost those happy hormones to boost mental and physical resilience.
